Happy Feet

Victoria just got some fancy AFO's (which stands for ankle, foot orthodics), especially designed for her with butterflies and in my favorite color, pink! We had to get shoes that are a few sizes too big so we could jam the AFO's in.

She doesn't mind them nearly as much as her hand splints.

She likes to walk with us holding her hands rather than using her walker.

Time for a rest. When she is done, she just lets go and trusts that we hold on to her.

This is still her favorite form of locomotion.

Today the living room, next year, a marathon!

  1. Way too cute!
To get AFO's to fit into shoes better, rip the insole out of the shoe. It gives it a ton more room and it allows you to use shoes in her regular size instead of going up so high in sizes. Alina wears an 8 without AFO's, and she has a 9 in most of her shoes with her AFO's.

She will be running laps around you in no time!

  5. I was going to say what Becky did about taking the insole out! The orthodic provides all the support her foot needs, you just need the shell of the shoe. I buy the cheapest shoes possible (which are sometimes the cutest!) since I'm going to rip them apart anyway.

  6. What an incredible change in a little girl! Now she looks like the healthy and happy girl she should be - on her two feet. Amazing.

  7. Oh that's a beautiful sight!!! It's a huge contrast to the picture I saw of her when she first arrived home, in the hospital, so ill.

She's come a long way- what a sweet blessing :)

  8. Wow! I can't believe that's the little princess I met in Ukraine less than 8 months ago! She is doing amazingly well! Love you both!
