Tis the Season to Whine

Today I found out what I get to do for the rest of the week. It's pretty darn exciting. I get to drive. A lot. Every two hours. Because the school knows I really don't have anything else to do!!!

I received this memo from Elliot's school informing me of their brilliant holiday exam schedule.

"Students must arrive at 10:15 for their exam and then be picked up by 12:15."

ho, ho, ho!!!!

Elliot goes to a charter school and there is no bus, so since it takes me about an hour to make the drive both ways, that means I will have a whooping hour to get home, unload all the other kids, feed them and load them up again until I have to turn around and go pick Elliot up.

As you can see, the boy is quite concerned about the situation.

I considered stuffing a sleeping bag in his backpack and letting him sleep at the school for the next three days, but the memo included this little gem.

"Students who are done with their exams for that particular day will be asked to leave the building. The student will not be allowed to stay in the building."

Drat. Drat. Drat.

My son better give me a gas card for Christmas.

  2. I know how you feel, I am the official family driver. At least it's more exciting the vacuuming.

  3. Maybe you could go to a local park or store or playground with the kids for those two hours instead of driving back. Maybe pack a snack. Good luck whatever you end up doing!

  4. LOL. Tamara is in a magnet program so she does not go to our local high school either. We end up having to drive her to and from school every day and it is on the other end of town. The program is worth it, but boy oh boy does it cost us in gas.

  5. To save on gas I reccomend...
Don't go home, locate the nearest Sonic and have one of those "let's have a picnic in the van parties" that my kids love. If you're not concerned abut cleanliness you could even recline in the front seat and take a nap while they picnic. Seriously, my kids are over the moon anytime they are allowed out of their seatbelts in the van, and if you throw in food, they could stay at that party for hours.

  7. I never knew that there was a season for whining - unless it was open season on whining... or something like that.
