Recipes, Building and a Thief

It's Saturday night and my brain is in a food coma. This will come as a shock to you all, but I made a delicious dish tonight (thanks to my friend, Catherine's recipe).

Would you like me to share this fabulous concoction? It's called "Angel Chicken"

8 chicken breasts
1 can of mushroom soup
1 package of cream cheese
1 package of Italian dressing
1/2 cup of wine (which I did not have, big surprise)

Now, here is the best part! You just dump all of this stuff in the crock pot and leave it for six hours. Then, you cook some angel hair pasta and mix it up. Easy peasy! Look at Victoria digging in! Anyone want to share some other easy recipes with me? They have to be really, really easy!

Ahhh....sweet dessert. Not homemade, but yummy!

Besides my big cooking endeavor, we build a bench for the kitchen table. I kept looking on craigslist, but all the benches were over $100. This one only cost $20!

Pretty awesome! We are planning to paint it purple, which I think sort of matches the yellow walls and burgundy drapes. Maybe we should put some polka-dots on it too? But what color would go with purple?

And last, but not least, we have a cookie thief. Busted!!!! I started Francesca on Ginko, which is supposed to help with language. So far, I haven't noticed a huge difference, but when I brought out these cookies, she clearly said, "cook, cook!" That's my girl!

  5. Your dish sounds yummy! I may try that, I love to use my crock-pot on days we are out in the afternoon. Did you cut up the chicken when you mixed in the pasta?
I think your bench will look neat purple.
Hope Catherine and Francesca enjoyed those goodies. :)

  6. I found a wonderful potato soup recipe on Pin*terest recently. It is made with frozen shredded potatoes, onions, cream of chicken soup and chicken broth. When it has cooked several hours in the crock pot and potatoes are done, add cream cheese and velveeta or sharp cheddar (your preference) and top with bacon and chives for added flavor when serving. It was so easy and my family loved it. Wonderful for a cool rainy day and it fed lots of people relatively cheaply.

  7. This is a favorite recipe in my house, super simple and everyone loves it. This recipe feeds 7 people in our house.

    Cowboy Chicken:Ingredients:

    4-6 chicken breasts
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
    2 cups salsa (any type)
1 (15 ounce) can corn, drained
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
½ cup sour cream (plus extra for serving)
    Brown rice (for serving)

    Directions:

    1. Place chicken in a 5-6 quart greased slow cooker.

    2. In medium bowl mix brown sugar, mustard, and salsa.

    3. Pour mixture over chicken. Add water to cover chicken, if needed. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.

    4. With 30 minutes of cook time remaining remove the lid and shred the chicken using two forks.

    5. Add the beans, corn, and sour cream to the slow cooker and mix together with the chicken. Replace lid and cook for remaining 30 minutes.

    6. Serve over rice with sour cream.

  8. I love you blog!

I love the crock pot. We always put chicken breasts in with a jar of salsa and black beans. Cook. Then we use it on chips for like chicken nachos or in tortillas for soft tacos.

  11. When you say italian dressing are you talking about a bottle of salad dressing or is it some kind of powdered mix?

  12. Here is a super easy recipe for chicken cacciatore:

    - chicken pieces (cut up whole chicken, breasts, thighs, drumsticks, whatever you have)
    - pasta sauce

Brown chicken pieces in olive oil on all sides (or skip this step).
Put the chicken in the crockpot.
Pour your favorite pasta sauce over the chicken making sure it covers it.
Turn on the crockpot and leave it until the chicken is cooked.
Cook pasta and serve the chicken with the sauce over the pasta.

Easy? Super easy! Delish? Oh yeah! :-)
