Mr. Sandman

Seems everyone in my family is getting plenty of rest, except for me. So, I have chosen to make good use of my non-sleeping time to write this song, because doing the dishes was totally out of the question.
(with apologies to Pat Ballard, who wrote the real song.)

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum

Oh Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream

They may be the cutest kids that I've ever seen

But they won't sleep, unless I sleep with them
and they think 2 am is a great time to spew phelgm (don't you love the visual here, plus it rhymed with "them")

Mr. Sandman, I'm going to cry
if they decide that naps are going "bye bye"

Mr. Sandman, I'm never alone
(Bum bum bum bum)
Don't have a space call my own.

Mr. Sandman, please turn on your magic beam,
and give them some  Benadryl to make them loose steam

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
bum

Mr. Sandman, please bring me a dream, or at least a really large chocolate bunny!

  1. I once used them and phlegm in a rather dirty poem I wrote. It is a rather brilliant rhyme. Great minds think alike. lol

I love seeing how far your girls have come. My family is considering an international special needs adoption too, and you are my inspiration.
    Keep up the good work!!!

  5. Hacking cough = phlegm in face. I try my best to keep a blanket barrior between my face and my squigglies face, especially when he has a hacking cough.

  7. Oh my gosh I laughed so hard by the time I got to the pic of the kids AND the cats taking up the entire couch... ha ha ha ha ha!!! And oh my gosh is Victoria just the most beautiful round-cheeked girl! I had to look back and forth between these pics and your header to see how far the two newest additions to the family have come. Francesca's hair is sooooo beautiful and she looks like she's grown half a foot in height! Love does wonders for the soul!
