The Trip to Philly: Part 1

We just got back from Philly this morning! Note to self: next time get a flight a little later than 6 am. so your friend doesn't have to wake up at 3 am to get you to the airport.

The trip was amazing, but I was unprepared in more ways than one.

First for the good stuff.

Thank God that I had my friend, Catherine, with me. I don't even know how to thank her.

She made lasagna and a pot roast. She put mints on my pillow! She took off work and stayed with me the whole day at Shriner's and carried my backpack.

She peeled a tangerine for me to eat while I was stressing out. She helped hold Victoria's legs for an hour during x-rays.. She crossed three lanes of traffic in downtown Philly so I could see the statue of "Rocky" at the art museum. What a friend! I wish I could do something for her!

Her kids were so sweet and gentle with Victoria.

Two sweet Ukrainians.

Such a cutie!

We also got to meet our wonderful friends, Julia and Aaron, Nancy and her daughters, Victoria and Geri, and Carolyn and Madeline, all who adopted kids with Arthrogryposis from the Ukraine. What a reunion! I wish we had more time to visit, but we did get to have lunch together.

Julia even hung out in the room with me.

Victoria did very well, except for the tons of x-rays.

Here is the wonderful Dr.van Bosse.

Well, I have lots more to write, but after only three hours of sleep last night, I am worn out. Much more tomorrow.....

  1. Oh I saw so many faces that I would have loved to sit and visit with :) I have been wondering about Catherine. I remember her from the Embassy when we were all there for our appts. I have wondered over and over how her transition with her son went. Safe travels. ~ Trina

  2. Glad you are home. We've been praying for you all. Mark was blown away this morning when I showed him the pictures of Victoria. He couldn't believe it was the same little girl we met in Ukraine, who he said was "on deaths door." You are an amazing mama!

  3. She is just getting cuter by the day!!!!

  4. Sounds like an amazing trip in so many ways.

  5. Can't wait to hear about the rest of it. Love the pictures and I'm so jealous that you got to meet so many people who I read about. lol

  6. I hope my city was good to you and that sweet little girl I have become so fond of (well I'm quite fond of all of your children and Aaron and Julie and their family too!) through your blogs.

  7. How Fun to have lunch with all the gang! :)
