The Real Reason

People think I adopted Francesca and Victoria because I am such a good person. HA!!! I actually adopted them to procure all kinds of wonderful dinners (including brownies) brought right to my door!! Thank you so much to everyone who has brought me a meal!! My kids are hoping I never have to cook again!

People say they are lucky little girls, but really I am the one who has been transformed by them. (I'm still trying to get a picture of everyone smiling)

Seeing Victoria kicking happily in the swimming pool inspires me to appreciate things I never even noticed before.

Seeing the simple joy that Francesca gets from having her very own cup of water, that she can drink from anytime. She will never have to be hungry or thirsty again, something that I have been lucky enough to take for granted.

I am amazed at the tenacity of their spirit. Victoria could have just given up, laying there in her crib, hours upon hours, in pain, hungry, alone. But she didn't. Francesca was so hungry, all day everyday, but still she managed to smile.

I love how she crosses her feet!

Victoria has learned how to stick out her tongue! I have learned what is really important.

Everyone we meet are smitten with Victoria. Her eyes just pull you in. Even the big, tough, carpenters who have been working at my mom's house were enthralled with her.

My 93 year old Grandma and Francesca are a match made in Heaven. My Grandma likes to share. She always tries to sneak part of her meal to the dogs. We always admonish her for it, but she presses on. She constantly tries to give the kids junk food; I have seen her attempt to slip them gummy worms for breakfast. I always stop her fun. Poor Grandma. She just needs someone to feed.

Enter Francesca, the food eliminator. She has yet to meet a food she doesn't immediately stuff into her mouth, including mushrooms and spinach. Tonight, I let my Grandma feed Francesca. They are just the perfect pair!

  1. I am so thrilled that YOU got to bring these children home!!! I am amazed at how different Victoria's face looks as she's filling out. I'm jealous that you get to see the transformations in the girls first hand. Of course, you know that Francesca has a special spot in my heart, as all kids with Apert syndrome do. Seeing her makes my heart ache for another little girl....

  16. So glad to hear of the weight gain! Wish I could give them some of mine...too bad that kind of transfer can't happen. HA!! Does sweet Francesca cry frequently? Maybe she doesn't like her picture being taken? ;-) Poor sweetie! Take care, and keep doing the great job that you are!
