Challenges

Forgive me for not writing lately. The children and I have been going through some difficult times lately. I am confident things will work out, but we could use some prayers right now. Thank you all! I promise to write more soon!

"The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings."
                    - Ralph Blum

“Life is so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth is, it shouldn't be easy. Then everything would be. It's the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something's difficult to come by, you'll do that much more to make sure it's even harder -if not impossible- to lose.”
― Sarah DessenAlong for the Ride

The true measure of a person is not how he behaves in moments of comfort and convenience but how he stands at times of controversy and challenges.
- Martin Luther King Jr.

It's not whether you get knocked down. It's whether you get up again.
-Vince Lombardi

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I have lived through this hardship, I can take the next thing that comes along.” . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

“You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” Marcus Aurelius

  1. Since you again write "the children and I" I suppose something has happened to your husband; a disease or a divorce or something... I'm sorry that you are going through hard times and I hope and pray that the whole situation will improve and the sun will shine brightly again soon!

  7. Praying! You have been on my mind. Audrey has asked to change her name to Francesca! Not kidding. I told her we couldn't do that so just this morning she said to just CALL her Francesca then. She would be telling her teacher today! Sheri

  8. Sorry to hear this. Your sweet, fun-loving family will be in our prayers. We've been going through a season of hard ourselves. I wasn't prepared for how exhausting and devestating dealing with a mental illness in my child could be, but I have to hang onto the truth that God can and does work all things for good. I know He alone can bring joy, strength, wisdom, witness, and so much more "good" out of the difficulty we face now. Most days I jus thave to remind myself that He will be sufficient when I am not, which is often.
Hang in there. Look forward to reading your posts when you are able to share again.

  9. I'm not big on praying, but I've had you and your family in my thoughts recently as I love your blog and was worried when there hadn't been a post in a while. I love the quotes you've posted here - they are very applicable to some things my husband and I are going through right now as well. I keep telling myself to put one foot in front of the other and eventually we'll get to the other side of this mess. Good luck to you in your journey and I'll continue to send positive thoughts your way! Thank you for letting us into your life - I love watching the kids grow and learn. And seeing a smile on Victoria's face always makes me smile too!

  10. Praying for strength and peace. When I was overwhelmed and in my weakest moments I would pray for grace for the next 15 minutes. Some how only having to make it the next 15 minutes rather than focusing on the next 24-48 hours made it bearable. HUGS!

  26. A stranger from the blogosphere... I have read your blog daily for about a year now. I enjoy your stories and seeing the growth of your children and how much joy you get out of their accomplishments. It's now been almost a month since your last post, so I worry how you are doing. I want you to know that you must have a ton of silent readers to this blog who are thinking about you and praying you through this difficult season in your life. I hope the burden you bear currently is not too great and that everything gets better for you. I just wanted to send you this note of encouragement to let you know that you're not alone.
