A Surprise Visit

We were just hanging out this morning, riding the dog, thinking today was going to be gloomy and uneventful.....but then......

Grandpa came to visit! Suddenly our day was full of fun.

The weather is way too cold us (even though Anastasia adamantly refuses to wear a coat), but who cares when you are going to a restaurant where you can order a "Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity"! No one can be dismal after you order that.

You can even do school work at good old IHOP. The menu taught us all about the 7 Wonders of the World.

Some delicious caffeine perked us right up. (don't worry, the container was empty, and also dirty after she dropped it several times)

Smiles all around!

Who needs a fork? Not me!

We decided to visit Great at her assisted living place. They always have fun stuff to play with there. Don't those dolls look real? They are anatomically correct too, as Isabella found out when she wanted to name the doll she was playing with Hazel. Then, she undressed it and found it was more of a Howard. Of course, now they have decided they really want dolls like these for Christmas. I have no idea where to find them? Anyone know what kind they are?

A little cuddle time. We're so glad Grandpa got to visit!

And some kisses from Bo, the resident dog. He is a cutie!

Well, tomorrow, back to the routine, or maybe not.......

  4. The realest (perfectly aware that's not a word) dolls I know are Berengeur Dolls like this one: http://www.amazon.com/JC-Toys-Newborn-Real-Girl/dp/B005N28MVO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1352951405&sr=8-4&keywords=berenguer+dolls. that's the smaller one, but it still looks pretty similar.

  6. They are Berenguer Special Edition dolls. They are slightly hard to find. Try eBay:
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/Baby-Dolls-/160840/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=berenguer

The ones the girls are holding cost about $100 each but you can get the regular kind (including an Asian or African American) for much less. You will want the 20" ones.

  7. OK I found them in Sears for you:

The boy is in the Frog outfit, I remember the girl's name is Lilly :) (yes I work in the doll industry lol and I do have both, got them as samples from the company when they first came out!)

  8. They are made by a company called Berenguer.

Here are the dolls on their website: http://www.berenguerdolls.net/category/berenguer_dolls.newborn_reborn_berenguer_dolls/

They are cheaper sold through dealers on ebay.

  10. You don't know how timely this post was! I was so happy to see Great. When I was praying for you and the girls I also was praying for Great. Never hurts to have prayers though and hopefully Great was feeling greatly comforted last week!

  11. Thanks much for sharing news and the wonderful visit of Grandpa. I am truly grateful and appreciative for your updates especially since, sometimes, having a blog and many faithful readers and well-wishers is not so easy to handle in trying times... You are doing so with amazing grace!

Your whole family remains in my thoughts and prayers.
    In loving light, Eva

  12. Is this your little lady? ("Moira" ??)
I was googling arthrogryposis (we're doing the China SN program) and I cannot mistake her sweet little face! (I think!)

I read your stories all the time, and just adore your family. You make me a better momma. I mean that!

  13. I had these dolls as a kid and last year gave them to my daughter to play with.

I found some similar at Toys R Us....the dolls do other things as well.

  14. Can I add to the growing list of recommendations for places to buy those dolls? Zulily has a sale on similar dolls right now:

I don't know if you'll need an invite to see the site or not, so here's one for you: http://www.zulily.com/invite/Polyeth12226

  15. Check out Amazon. Just put "anatomically correct baby dolls" in the search box. Some are as low as $23.00. I've also seen them at Walmart. And, Ashton Drake sells them, but they are more expensive. I think they are cute.
