Mission (not) Impossible

Victoria has a passion for dogfood. She loves to throw it, toss it, pour it and attempt to eat it. She will drag herself all the way from another room to reach the bowls of her desire.

Since she can scoot around on her tummy, I have to make sure I sit her up so she is immobile, or so I thought.

I believe she is daring me to try to stop her.

She figured out how to push her knuckles (because her hands won't open all the way yet) onto the floor and scoot her bottom, inch by inch. It takes her a long, long time and lots of effort to move like this, but she sticks to her goal.

She has made contact!!!

Don't mess with me!

Victory!

Some of the doctors have said Victoria will never walk, but I have no doubt that she will! Such determination!

  3. Reason 1,001 that I am glad I don't have a dog. But, I'm glad you do (even though I'm sure it is way more than one dog :-) ....b/c now that little girl has more motivation.

    Yay.
    Good job sweet girlie!

  8. Just wanted to tell you how much I look forward to reading you family's daily adventures. You always bring a smile to my face.

My daughter LOVED eating dog food as a toddler. It just made her grandma so upset. LOL.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family

  9. You are the only mom I know who can relax about the mess and see the important points here. She is happy, she is practicing and practicing and practicing, and learning all the time that usually she can do what she really wants to do, with enough effort. No therapist in the world can "make" her realize that. She just needs the right enviroment, and the right "stuff" around to motivate her. I remember once reading in Mary Pride's Big Book of Homeschooling, that one of the really important things for kids starting out learning at home was making sure they had lots and lots of raw material ... art stuff, books, etc. One day it will be old out of print encyclopedia sets. Today it is huge bowls of dogfood. I wish I could just learn to be like you. :)

  10. Too funny! The things kids are obsessed with! For my son it was trash, light bulbs, and batteries. We even got him his own mini trash can for his birthday (hoping he'd stop throwing all our stuff in the real trash). Maybe someone will buy Victoria a bowl of play dog food for Christmas and you can just move it around the house as her exercise routine.
    Love all your stories.
