On Sunday, Theresa and I took the kids downtown for the Down Syndrome Buddy walk! We had a blast!
I finally got to meet Andrea, the founder of Reese's Rainbow and Cara, who adopted sweet Alanna, from Ukraine.
Victoria and Alanna are almost the same age!
Quite a crowd!
Francesca is a wild woman! We had a hard time keeping up with her.
The bouncy houses were a huge hit!
But the most wonderful part of the day was not planned at all. Back in May, when we first got to Kiev, we shared an apartment with a great couple, Karen and Jason. They were getting a blind referral and we got to be there when they got back from the SDA to find out who their little girl was going to be! We have kept in touch ever since. They live in South Korea now, but have been in the states for a few weeks. We had hoped to get together on their layover in Atlanta, but we hadn't been able to connect. As we were hanging out in the playground, I noticed a little girl who looked like their sweet daughter, Charlotte. Then, I realized, it was Charlotte!!! In a city of over 5 million, fate brought us together!!!
I was thrilled to get to see them!!
What an amazing reunion. You have a knack for popping up in all the right places and leaving lasting impressions when you do. ;o) Looks like a great event. So glad you're all having fun and doing wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteOur buddy walk is next week and I am SO excited to meet some of my blog and facebook friends in person!

Look at how much bend Victoria has in that right leg!! Wow. When the casts are off (between castings) is she able to flex her leg at all? I'm not sure how the muscles and tendons and ligaments etc are affected by arthrogryposis.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of Francesca in the bounce house! What a sweet smile. :)
ReplyDeleteit was just SUPPOSED to happen... best reunion EVER! :) LOVED meeting your little girls... poor charlotte doesn't look as thrilled as I do in that last picture :)
