Time for a change

Someone need to change their shirt, or maybe just their attitude.

On Sunday, Victoria and I will be off to Philadelphia to see the specialist in Arthrogryposis at Shriner's hospital. Though I don't like leaving the kids, I am really looking forward to this trip. A friend of mine (who I met in Ukraine) will be picking me up from the airport and letting me stay with her! We are going to have so much fun talking and hanging out. Then, on Monday, the day of our appointment, several friends who also adopted kids with Arthrogryposis from Ukraine will be at Shriner's too! It's going to be a party.

The only thing I am dreading is there is a strong possibility that Victoria will be casted. These casts are real casts, not like the kind that she had before, where I could take them off myself. These have to be cut off. I have heard they hurt much worse than the kind the physical therapist put on Victoria before.

Remember the fun of those casts?

Also, probably having two kids in casts at the same time is going to be a tiny bit of a nightmare. What do you all think?

  2. Wow. I love that my city is the home of the hospital that many of the RR families I follow use. Welcome to Philly, it's really not that bad! Shriners is amazing. (I'm a medic and take many children there.)

  3. Well doggone it! Just three weeks later and Axel and I would be at Shriner's for HIS check up! Shoot! Maybe one of these visits we'll have better timing. And yes, the thought of two kids in casts sounds a bit nightmarish! Kind of like two kids in halos. (no, not sure we're going to do that yet, but it has been brought up!)

  4. I am jealous! Not of the casts but the fun you will have, otherwise, relating to our AMC friends! You are probably gonna visit with some people I "know" (from AMC and FB chat) and have met AMCSI conferences. My adopted son has AMC, too. We haven't been to Philly as our services here are pretty good but I envy the gatherings in the lobby, etc. of all the AMC folks. Gonna look you up on FB. Good luck! Been there done that but with only one child. This too shall pass.

  6. Praying that the appointment goes well and that you don't end up with 2 kids in casts at the same time. I'm jealous that you are going to meet lots of Reece's Rainbow moms and kids though. Maybe once mine get home, then I will find a way to meet up with some. There is one mom who lives a reasonable distance to me and is awaiting her daughter while I wait for my 5 kids to come home.
